Work on Your Happiness

Updated: Feb 20, 2024

If there were only one thing you must know for your mental well-being, it is this: happiness is mostly a decision you make; you get to choose whether to be happy or not. Of course, this isn’t meant exactly as it sounds; you don’t wake up in the morning and deliberate whether to turn your happiness mode on or keep it off. Rather, what is meant is this: the most significant factor in your happiness is under your control. What is that? It is your mind, your thoughts, your attitudes, and all that you get to say and think about yourself and your life.

Happiness lies in that area where a small difference in the way you think will change what you experience; it will change the reality for you. If reality changes by your thoughts, happiness can only come to be depending on your thoughts.

You can choose to be happy by developing your thoughts in a certain way so that you have more tendency to think happily and see things happening in a way that makes you happy. It is very crucial here to note that what is said is not following illusory ideas for improving our mental life; we only develop our thoughts and improve our appraisal of reality.

The mental tendency to be happy is a mental tendency to see things in a balanced and accurate way. Don’t make big assumptions, don’t overgeneralize, don’t make hast ungrounded conclusions, and other rational ideas to think about; all these are important factors for our mental well-being if we train our minds to think through those positive and rational mechanisms.

Think about what you have. Focus on what is in your hand. Improve your daily experience. Think good of yourself. Treat yourself kindly. Improve your understanding of reality. Be affirmative and brave. Go step by step. Appraise things in a balanced manner. These all are nothing other than rational ways of acting; there is no deception here. The decision you make to be happy will make you closer to reality and truth; being unhappy is a distorted way of looking at things. Happiness is accessible and affordable and does not always lie in what people assume it does. Happiness comes from within; that is a very important thing to remember and follow.
