The Difference Between Victory and Defeat

Victory and defeat are not matters of outcome; you do not try your luck and then check whether you win or lose. What brings victory is taking the route of victory, and what brings defeat is taking its route. It is true that sometimes things can get out of control, and chance will have its word to say, but in general, you determine your outcome by the procedure you take.

You can’t stay all day scrolling your phone screen down and expect to pass your exam or find a proper job. There is a certain process you have to go through to get to that desired outcome. We are usually surprised and frustrated by defeat, but if we become sincere enough and look back on our actions, we shall see that we shouldn’t have expected more.

You are not entitled to win every time you try. You only win when you deserve to win, and you deserve to win when you do what winners do. There is no such thing as a natural loser or a natural winner. Losers do what makes them lose, and winners do what grants them victory. Don’t label yourself or let anyone label you.

The difference between victory and defeat is the small effort you do or don’t do every day that either adds up or doesn’t. That very little effort is the slight difference between hugely different outcomes. If you move one of two parallel lines very slightly away, after some distance, there will be a huge distance between them that you would never think of when looking at the slight move you made at the beginning.

It is the small contributions you make for your day that grant you success after months. Don’t compromise for that little effort no matter how little it seemed or difficult the sustain of it felt. Keep moving. The difference between victory and defeat is very slight at the micro-level and very huge at the macro-level. When you look closely, it is almost nothing that you add, and when you look far enough, the outcome is everything you wanted.

Hence, a wise man once said that the difference between everything and nothing is almost nothing. This emphasizes the significance of seemingly insignificant actions over time and their profound impact on achieving desired outcomes.
