How to overcome your fears? First, you should know what you fear. Be connected to yourself and feel what it fears. When you start identifying your fears, you will be anxious and uncomfortable because you fear them; that’s natural. Look deep into them, don’t look away. Stare at your fears. Your anxiety will rise even more, but once you get to know them and clearly see them, it will significantly fall. For fears are natural capacities of ourselves; we fear what is naturally harmful to us.
When we deal with them in that sense, we will first check whether we are, in fact, susceptible to that harm. If we are not, or if there is an easy way to avoid it, the anxiety will fall spontaneously.
But if you find yourself susceptible to that harm, you shall try to evade it, and your fear will easily fade away or at least significantly decrease.
If you fear that you will lose your job, fail a course, or have a bad disease, look carefully into that fear and see what it actually contains. What is exactly scary about losing your job? What is the harm that you are fearful of? Understand your feelings and deal with them accordingly. When you get to know what your fears are actually about, you will usually see that their magnitude is not as big as your anxiety.
What if you fail that course? You will have to spend more time taking another one? You will have to make more effort? Does this mean that you will lose your degree altogether? What is the real harm you are anxious about? How serious is that possibility to begin with? Are you really in danger? How serious is it? Appraise the situation and deal with it as rationally as you can. Things should go well once you deal with them rationally and see them as they are.
Some fears are daunting. They can haunt you in a way that seems inescapable. We should learn to tolerate them as we go in life. Life is full of unexpected events. We should be open to whatever may come. We should be strong and able to deal with our fears when they become real. But always treat them as they are; don’t exaggerate them. Your mind will naturally exaggerate them, so it would be wise to automatically underestimate your fears to some extent. Don’t be occupied by fears but work for what you hope. Fears can mostly be handled by reasonable approaches. Overcome your fears by looking at them carefully and clearly. Don’t neglect them, or they may keep haunting you and ruin your mental well-being without your noticing it. Fear less and hope more.
