Life is full of pain and sorrow. But your life doesn't have to be full of pain and sorrow, even if it includes some pain and sorrow. It is the meaning you attach to each experience that makes it feel good or bad, not the experience by itself. Pain can be an essential part of a good life, as you need pain to feel accomplished. If things are always smooth and easy, no accomplishment would feel good as it does. Even if you cannot attach a specific meaning to a given pain, accept pain as a part of life and look for the other parts that are pleasing.
There are many. It is the nature of human beings to overlook nice things and focus on the bad ones, for they trigger more intense emotions and are easier to draw attention to and be recalled. If you work on yourself, you can train your mind to focus on good things happening to you as well. Again, they are quite plenty of them; just think clearly and honestly. Once you get used to looking at the good parts of your life, you won't be overwhelmed by the stressful parts and will be more able and ready to deal with them.
Overcome pain and sorrow with a balanced and accurate view of life. This is not a call for heedless optimism. What is called for is to see things truly as they are. Don't overestimate the bad or underestimate the good. Be honest about yourself and your life; that's the most crucial and primary honesty you need to have. Being rational and honest is always the key to solving most of our problems.
This is not usually expected to be the case, but once you give it a try, you will find out how your life would change by merely that. It can be, however, difficult to have a good sense of rationality or to be able to apply honesty, despite having a good sense of it.
But note that once you try to be rational, you will find your way. For you already have a good capacity for that, and we are already more or less rational; we only get to train and apply our rationality. Honesty also is something to be worked on through constant use and improvement. Apply what you know and get more knowledge from the knowledgeable and wise ones. That is the key to your happiness.
